Good toughness and impact resistance: Some parts in mechanical manufacturing, such as cast iron and medium low carbon steel, are prone to vibration during milling. The toughness of high-speed steel can prevent edge cracking, while hard alloy milling cutters are prone to fracture in vibration environments;
Strong grindability and controllable cost: High speed steel cutting tools can be repeatedly sharpened by a tool grinder after wear (usually 3-5 times), extending their service life, reducing single piece processing costs, and suitable for small and medium-sized production or multi variety part processing;

Large scale high-speed processing: For example, batch V-groove processing of automotive parts requires high cutting efficiency. Hard alloy single angle milling cutters (or coated high-speed steel milling cutters) have higher cutting speeds (up to 80-120m/min), making them suitable for mass production;
High hardness material processing: When processing steel with a hardness greater than HRC35 (such as quenched steel and tool steel), if the hardness of high-speed steel is insufficient (usually HRC62-65), it is necessary to use hard alloy or cubic boron nitride (CBN) milling cutters instead.
